Wisdom Wednesday: The Beauty of Each Step
Imagine you’re climbing a mountain. The path is steep, but with each step, you’re getting closer to the peak. Along the way, you come across other climbers. Some are further ahead, scaling rocks with ease, while others are moving at a slower pace, pausing to take in the view.
If you focus on those ahead of you, you might start feeling discouraged, wondering why you’re not as fast or agile. But if you stop and look back, you’ll see how far you’ve already come, and if you look to your own feet, you’ll see the strength in each step you’re taking.
The journey up the mountain is yours alone, with its own pace and rhythm. When you focus on where you are and appreciate your own progress, the climb becomes meaningful. The peak might look different for everyone, but the value lies in each individual step taken.
Reflection Exercise:
Take a moment to reflect on an area in your life where you’ve felt the pull of comparison. Ask yourself:
What was it about the other person’s life or achievement that I felt drawn to?
What can I appreciate about my own journey that I may have overlooked?
What small, positive step can I take to honor my own growth, without looking at someone else’s path?
Write down your reflections and consider how you can celebrate your own accomplishments, however big or small, without comparing them to others. Remember, your journey is yours alone—unique, beautiful, and worthy of joy.
